Meda MP3 Splitter slices your MP3 files in as many tracks as you need. Its automated split manager detects the blank spaces in between songs, helping you to split your full-album recordings in no time. To make it easier for you, it shows you a preview of the audio file in wave form, so that you can edit your MP3 file before splitting it. Besides, it also allows you to merge previously split files, when needed.
Probably the most attractive feature of this application is its simple one-screen interface. It clearly shows a wave-form layout of the audio file which you can customize with your favourite colours, and enlarge or shrink depending on how much of the file you need to work with on screen. Marking a cut point is a simple as double-clicking on the desired part of the displayed file – you can then easily drag the break point to anywhere in the audio file. For more accurate results, Meda MP3 Splitter lets you play the file and check your choices until you feel satisfied with them. Another extremely useful feature is the possibility of saving your cut points in a file and come back later to finish off your work. Right before saving your new MP3 files to your hard drive, you can select which files you want to leave out, if any, and those you want to keep. You may also want to add ID3 tags to your source file before splitting.
The program supports CUE files, allocating the splitting points exactly as they were in the original file. It also includes two very interesting add-ons – a merge utility and a built-in MP3-to-WAV converter. The merger is useful to restore the source MP3 file you split if anything goes wrong, or just to join a number of different tracks to create your own compilation in just one file.
